UPCOMING
JEWELRY SHOW — The Guadalupe Regional Medical Center Volunteers will sponsor a ‘Gold N Vision’s Gold Jewelry’ sale May 9. It will be a sale of fine gold jewelry. The sale will be held in the Gift Shop Reception area. They will accept cash, check and credit cards and the public is invited.
FOOD DRIVE — Guadalupe Regional Medical Center’s nurses will celebrate National Nurses’ Week by sponsoring a food drive, May 6–12. The Medical Center’s nurses are asking the community to donate canned and other nonperishable food items to honor a nurse. Stop by GRMC’s front lobby to donate a food item.
FRIDAY DANCE — The Silver Center Friday Night Dance will feature the music of the Texas Tophands on May 9, from 7:30-11 p.m. Admission is $7.
CEMETERY ASSOCIATION — The Eden Cemetery Association is having a clean up day May 10, at 8 a.m.
VFW DANCE — Geronimo Post 8456 VFW Ladies Auxiliary is having a dance on Saturday, May 10, from 8 p.m. to midnight at the Geronimo VFW Post No. 8456 Hall, Highway 123 (5 Miles North of Seguin). A donation of $7 will be accepted at the dance. Proceeds from the dance benefit our Veterans programs. Call (830) 379-1971 for reservations or directions.
BARBECUE FUNDRAISER — Boy Scout Troop 107 will be holding a barbecue plate fundraiser on Saturday, May 10, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Cash American Pawn parking lot located at the corner of E. Court St. and S. King St. The plates will have sliced brisket, potato salad, beans, bread, pickles and onions. Tickets are $6 per plate and can be purchased from any Troop 107 Boy Scout member or during serving time. Plates can be picked up in a drive through line from the Boy Scouts for your convenience. BAKE SALE — Geronimo Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary is having a bake sale on Saturday, May 10, from 9 a.m. until noon at the Fire Station.
PIANO RECITAL — Seguin High School graduate Ryan De La Garza, currently majoring in piano at the University of Texas at Austin, will hold a piano recital at 6 p.m., Sunday, at Texas Lutheran University’s Ayers Recital Hall. The public is invited.
DAR MEETING — Captain James Jack Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution will hold their last meeting of the year and officer installation, Monday, May 12. Members can meet at 9:30 a.m. at New Braunfels ISD Education Center to carpool or join us at 10 a.m. at the MIllie Seaton Collection of Dolls and Toys in San Marcos. TEACHERS BREAKFAST — Seguin-Guadalupe County Retired Teachers Association is hosting their annual breakfast Tuesday, May 13, at 9 a.m. at the Silver Center. Price is $7. Please make your reservations by contacting Frances Patlan at (830) 379-1087.
MASTER GARDENERS — Guadalupe County Master Gardeners will meet Thursday, May 15, at 7 p.m. at the Texas AgriLife Extension Bldg. at 210 E. Live Oak in Seguin. Judit Green from Texas Parks and Wildlife, will present gardening in the shade with native plants. Emphasis will be on what plants benefit songbirds, butterflies, and hummingbirds. AJB PERFORMANCE — A. J. Briesemeister Middle School drama department presents the musical production, “Dear Edwina, Junior” Friday and Saturday May 16-17, at 7:30 p.m. Reserved seating is $10 and general seating is $5. Tickets are available at the door and from AJB Theatre Arts II students. Directed by Rebecca Phillips.
ANGER MANAGEMENT — There will be an anger management/domestic violence class Saturday, May 17, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Seguin Elks Lodge. Registration forms can be picked up at the Silver Center or you can register online at manageryouranger@aol.com . For more information call (830) 372-5980.
ANGEL FOOD — First United Methodist Church, 710 N. Austin St. is a host site for Angel Food Ministries. For only $30 you can order a box of food valued at approximately $50-$65. Orders can be placed at FUMC during normal office hours Monday-Friday from now through May 18. Food Stamps will be accepted on Friday, May 16, and Saturday, May 17, 9 a.m. to noon, and Sunday, May 18, 9:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Food will be available for pick up on Saturday, May 31, from 8:30-10:30 a.m. For more information regarding hours, menu or the program call the church at 379-4112 or 477-1648.

RAPPS CLASSES — RAPPS- Rural Area Parenting Program Services a 501 (c)3 non-profit organization has collaborated with Southwest Pride, Inc. also a non-profit 501(c)3 organization and will be offering weekly Parenting and Anger Management classes (at a $5 per class fee) RAPPS also offers a one day certification class for Anger Management/Parenting upon request at one time $50 fee; certificate is given at end of training. Weekly classes will take place from 5:30-7 p.m. at 607 Jefferson Avenue (Parking in rear of building). Please call to register. Classes will run approximately six weeks before graduation. TOPS MEETING — TOPS TX No. 1201, Seguin meets every Friday morning from 9-11 a.m. at the Seguin Library. TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) is a weight loss support group open to anyone interested in weight loss and healthy living. For information, contact Pat Riecks at 303-5059.

All items can be returned to the owners after being scanned-in for our archives.
